Constitution of Fremantle Buffalo Club Inc.

"The Fremantle Buffalo Club's principal objectives are to establish, maintain and conduct a club for the social advancement of Buffaloism and to support the recreational, social, cultural and community dimensions of meeting that social union.

These objects include the provision of facilities for the pursuit of literary, scientific, athletic, and professional and any other lawful purposes that provides benefits and enjoyment for the members of The Club."

The Buffalo Club was once one of many scattered across the globe by the Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes from the 1820s. The old order no longer run the club, but they continue to meet in the upper halls. The Buffalo Club pursues the aims it inherited from the order, to support social unity in all its dimensions.

Our particular club was established on the former site of the Madrid Restaurant in 1938, and was given over to general members some time in the 60s. The club rambled through the intervening years much unchanged in a changing city.

The Buff seeks a culture of friendship and has been a point of solidarity for maritime workers and Freo's grassroots community. In recent years, this has included an influx of new members from the music community and the club regularly hosts live music.

No current disabled access for upstairs function hall.

The Buffalo Club hosts events that are booked and run by club members. The club is an intimate space with a clean sound. The Buffalo Club’s membership includes a number of organisers in the arts community, bringing performers from overseas and interstate.

The Fremantle Buffalo Club is a not-for-profit association, run by a committee, elected by its membership. The club has a yearly annual general meeting to elect its committee, which all members are encouraged to attend. The club relies on the ideas, contribution and volunteer efforts of our membership. Together we will roll this wonderful place on into the future.
